Itinerary

Welcome to Japan! Upon arrival at Haneda Airport, your guide will be waiting in the arrivals hall just after customs to greet you. A private van will be arranged for a comfortable transfer to your hotel in Tokyo. We recommend arriving by 16:00 to ensure a smooth check-in and a relaxed start to your journey. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and get your first taste of Japan’s rich culinary culture while meeting your fellow travelers. Overnight stay in Tokyo in a standard three-star hotel.
Today we leave Tokyo early by express (shared) bus and head straight to the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji. Before departure, each participant will purchase their own lunch at a convenience store to bring along for the day. At the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji, the real hike begins. We’ll follow the Yoshida Trail, starting in the forest and gradually moving up into more open terrain with amazing views as we gain elevation. From the 7th Station, the trail gets steeper and rockier as we climb over volcanic terrain. We’ll spend the night at a mountain hut at the 8th Station, getting some rest before the summit push. Large luggage, such as suitcases that cannot be brought on the mountain climb, will be sent by luggage delivery service to the hotel in Matsumoto. The luggage will be received at the hotel on August 1st. All participants must carry their own luggage during the mountain climbing. Distance 5.0 km (3.1 mi) | Elevation gain: +795 m (2,608 ft) - 0 m (0 ft) | Time: 2.5–3.5 hours
Wake up early to catch the sunrise from your mountain hut, an unforgettable moment. After that, we hit the trail for the final push to the summit. The first stretch is a short but steep rocky climb, then the path shifts to a gravel zigzag leading up to the top of the Yoshida Trail at 3,710 meters. From there, we continue with a walk around the crater rim, finishing at Kengamine Peak, the true summit of Mt. Fuji at 3,776 meters. After some time to take in the views and celebrate, we begin the long descent back to the 5th Station. Once there, we transfer by express (shared) bus and private vehicle to your hotel near Kofu Station, where a well-earned rest awaits. Distance 9.0 km (5.6 mi) | Elevation gain: +676 m (2,218 ft) - 1,471 m (4,826 ft) | Time: 5–7 hours
Today we take an express train to Matsumoto in Nagano, followed by a private transfer to Hakuba, right in the heart of the Japan Alps. Once we arrive, the rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy. You can explore the area, take a short nature walk, or simply soak in the mountain atmosphere. In the evening, we’ll stay at a cozy mountain hut in Hakuba (Sarukuraso), where we prepare for the alpine days ahead.
After a great breakfast at the mountain hut, we start early, around 6:00 AM, heading out through forested trails and gradually ascending into the shrub zone. Soon, we reach the base of Hakuba Daisekkei (1,560 m)—one of Japan’s iconic snow valleys. With caution, we climb this wide snowfield, keeping an eye out for loose rocks, until we arrive at Nebukappira (2,290 m), where alpine wildflowers begin to color the trail. From there, we traverse a smaller snowfield and follow a zigzagging ridge that opens up into even more flower-filled meadows. Our goal for the day is Hakuba Sanso Mountain Hut (2,832 m), but before settling in, we’ll do a short round trip to the summit of Mt. Shirouma (2,932 m). From the top, take in sweeping views of the Northern Japan Alps—Tateyama, Mt. Tsurugi, Mt. Hotaka, and Mt. Yari all visible on clear days. Distance 6.1 km (3.8 mi) | Elevation gain: +1,680 m (5,512 ft) - 100 m (328 ft) | Time: 6-7 hours
After leaving the summit of Mt. Shirouma, we continue along the ridge to Mikuni-zakai—the meeting point of Nagano, Toyama, and Niigata prefectures. The trail then leads us through stunning alpine scenery past the peaceful Hakuba Oike and Mt. Hakuba Norikura (2,437 m), offering a mix of ridgelines, wildflowers, and mountain views. Our trek ends at the Tsugaike Nature Park, where we descend via a ropeway. From the base, a private vehicle will take us to Matsumoto, where we’ll spend the night in a hotel near the station. Distance 9.0 km (5.6 mi) | Elevation gain: +370 m (1,214 ft) - 1,330 m (4,364 ft) | Time: 5 hours
Today we take an express train back to Tokyo. Depending on your schedule, you can either catch your international flight or enjoy a final evening in the city. Important: If you're flying internationally today, please make sure your flight departs after 17:00 from Haneda Airport to allow enough travel time.
