What you'll do

During the Mapo Tapo 'Sicilian cliffs and coastlines' experience, you will have the opportunity to discover and practice the amazing discipline of climbing surrounded by a crystal-clear sea. In line with the Mapo Tapo spirit, you will also have the occasion to meet fellow climbers and share your passion for the rock! The coastline of Western Sicily is a real amusement park for climbers. The protagonists are the Mediterranean sea, the golden tufas, and the laid-back Sicilian vibe. Nature is still untouched here and you will find extraordinary rock quality and scenery, ranging from limestone crags, to sandstone boulders and DWS routes over crystal clear water. To complete the experience: awesome food and the amazing Sicilian vibe are guaranteed. Sicilian climbing isn’t just scenic... it’s historical! Many crags are set against ancient ruins or near sites once occupied by Phoenicians, Greeks, and Romans... which means ascending rock faces that have witnessed thousands of years of human history!

Itinerary

Once picked up from the airport and greeted with a welcome aperitivo, you will have a quick warm-up with your group mates at Stardust Wall while Gio and Cata prepare the dinner. Be ready for some barbecue or pizza and some chill in the hot tub! NB: There will be only one transfer that will pick you up at 8/8.30 pm at the airport of Palermo.
A traditional Italian breakfast awaits you in the morning... and then it is all about rocks! You will spend the day climbing on multiple crags in the surroundings of Trapani, Custonaci and San Vito lo Capo - the choice of the crag is made by your local expert depending on weather conditions. If breakfast wasn't enough, you will experience the traditional Cannolo delivery to the crag.
Climbing all day is super fun, but the view from the top might have made you wonder how is the sea in this part of the island. Our answer might be biased, so you will get to tell it yourself. After another full day of climbing, jump into the water and chill out your muscles, you deserve it!
It's your last day of climbing, and you want to make the most out of it! Wake up early, eat breakfast (we know you'll miss that too), and go to the next crags! Follow your local partner's advice regarding the best spot to go according to the weather conditions, and enjoy the day! According to the needs of each of you, Marco will figure out the best thing to go for during your last day: deep water soloing, sport climbing, or bouldering.
After a relaxed breakfast, we venture to a lesser-known climbing spot tucked away between olive groves and limestone cliffs. Today’s setting is wilder, more remote, and perfect for both lead climbing and exploring new boulder problems scattered across the terrain. In the afternoon, we swap chalk for saltwater—grabbing our gear and heading to an idyllic DWS location, where the only way down is a splash into turquoise seas. The evening is yours to enjoy: unwind on the terrace, share beta over beers, or stroll into town for a taste of local nightlife.
The day kicks off with a sunrise stretch and optional dip in the sea to shake off the sleep. Then it’s back on the rocks—this time returning to one of our favorite spots to push limits or just enjoy smooth, familiar lines. The midday sun invites a slow lunch and siesta before we hit the coast one last time for an epic DWS session, with the golden light setting the cliffs aglow. We’ll wrap things up with a celebratory dinner: pizza, wine, laughter, and plenty of talk about "just one more route."
On your last day, we will get to climb Stardust Wall for the last time, enjoy your breakfast, and be transferred to the airport. It is time to head back home - yes, already! NB: Same as the arrival, there will be one transfer that will leave at the time of the first of you to be at the airport :) We would advise you to leave in the afternoon, around 4 pm, so that you can enjoy your last day at the b&b!

Gio & Cata

Gio & Cata

Giorgia and Davide are the hosts of the accommodation "B&B Polvere di Stelle" where you will be staying during this trip. They are two super friendly local climbers who sometimes will come climb with you! Giorgia’s home‑baked cakes - bursting with local flavors like honey, citrus, and almonds - fuel climbers before they venture out. Her warmth and creative spirit set the tone for the day. Davide, an accomplished local climber and boulderer, sculpted Bosco Scorace, Sicily’s first sandstone bouldering haven, nestled in eucalyptus woods just minutes from the hostel.
